There is no Problem.

“There is no need to search; achievement leads to nowhere. It makes no difference at all, so just be happy now! Love is the only reality of the world, because it is all One, you see. And the only laws are paradox, humor and change. There is no problem, never was, and never will be. Release your struggle, let go of your mind, throw away your concerns, and relax into the world. No need to resist life, just do your best. Open your eyes and see that you are far more than you imagine. You are the world, you are the universe; you are yourself and everyone else, too! It’s all the marvelous Play of God. Wake up, regain your humor. Don’t worry, just be happy. You are already free!”  – Dan Millman, Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives

Taoist Story “Maybe”

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically. “May be,” the farmer replied.

The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed. “May be,” replied the old man.

The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. “May be,” answered the farmer.

The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. “May be,” said the farmer.

Ig nor ance

When we think of ignorance or ignorant people, how much of it is really our own ignorance? I know I find myself getting frustrated with people from time to time, ok maybe a bit more than that.. But what I have come to find is that ignorance is mainly a lack of understanding, or simply choosing not to understand. It’s a lack of awareness. We can sit here all day and point fingers at who’s ignorant and who isn’t, but most of the time it’s not just someone else who’s ignorant, it’s you as well.

Sometimes when I look back on my life I would think, what a dumbass you were, how could you have possibly thought that, what on earth would propel you to do such a thing! Each day I grow, each day I learn more, I experience different things, meet new people, form different views, all in all expand as an individual. So when I look back I wouldn’t say I was completely ignorant, I would lean more towards saying I had a lack of understanding, because let’s get real here, that does sound a lot better.

Instead of wandering around bumping into people, pointing fingers, sometimes the middle one, just learn to accept things they way they are. Accept people and their lack of understanding, instead of keeping everything bottled up and having hypothetical arguments with them in your head. Instead try to see things from their point of view and try to learn from them or their mistakes. Because you never know, you just might be the one who has the lack of understanding.
